Five Utility Box Art Wraps Being Installed in Edina
Edina, Minn., Oct. 31, 2025 – Five artists were chosen to have their artwork wrapped around utility boxes in Edina. The wraps are being installed this fall.
Judy Grasamke’s artwork named “Explore” was chosen to be installed at West 50th Street and Halifax Avenue. “Hiding Hibiscus” by Cynthia Huff has been installed at West 76th Street and
France Avenue by the Centennial Lakes Park entrance. “Parenthesis” by Sarah Abdel-Jelil will be installed by the West 77th Street and the Pentagon Park parking lot. “Celestial Hound”
by Dennis Krull will be installed at West 70th Street and West Shore Drive. “Green & Gold All Seeing Owls” by Jeff Troldahl will be installed at West 55th Street and Valley View Road.
“The pieces I am submitting are all about exploring our neighborhoods, the areas we live in. On the journey, we will see many different pathways to take, each one leading us to new places,”
said Grasamke.
The Arts & Culture Commission fit the selected pieces to the places they were being installed. Submissions fell under four theme categories: Edina-Related Art, Organics and Recycling,
Sustainable Living and Student Art. Any form of artwork was accepted, including, but not limited to, paintings, photography, collages, mosaics, quilting and poetry.
“We had so many submissions and by a really great variety of artists, from children to professional artists to people with wonderful ideas,” explained Laura Westland, Chair of the Arts
& Culture Commission. “It's great to have a splash of cool art that's maybe done by one of your neighbors and to have that be a part of our community. We just think it’s terrific.”
“Utility boxes are such a creative opportunity to present public art in our community,” said Recreation Supervisor Laura Fulton. “It offers a palette that is just on the corner of the
street or a walkway. It's really cool to be able to bring public art to the city in a fun and unique way.”
A stipend of $500 was presented to artists with winning entries.
