ARTS & CULTURE COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING

1. Call to Order
Chair Westlund called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
2. Roll Call
Members Present: Ann Curtin, Tim Scully, Laura Westlund, Alana Zbaren, Maxine
Steinberg, Caroline Byrd, Jignasha Pandya
Members Absent: Alyssa Fram, Brian Stemmler, Anna Schenk
Staff Present: Laura Fulton, Recreation Supervisor, Bill Neuendorf, Economic
Development Manager
3. Approval of Meeting Agenda
Chair Westlund requested that Donte Mearon be added to Special Recongnitions and
Presentations.
4. Approval of Meeting Minutes
Commissioner Byrd made a motion to approve last month's meeting
minutes. Motion seconded by Commissioner Curtin.

5. Special Recognitions and Presentations
Commissioner Curtin introduced Donte Mearon from Throwing Paint, a recipient of the
Art Grant process.
Mearon presented what he was able to do at the Edina Art Fair in the Kids Zone with
the grant.
Commission members congratulated Mearon on a successful activity and thanked him for
working with the community.

7. Reports/Recommendations
7.1. 50th & France Pedestrian Wayfinding Strategic Plan
Bill Neuendorf presented on the Wayfinding Strategic Plan Report for 50th and France.
Commission commented on the process and opportunities, discussed opportunities for
public art.
7.2. ACC Workplan Update
1.1.1 Art Center Colocation
Fulton updated the Commission on the current status of the new library. Hennepin
County is at 90% Construction Documentation and the current library will soon be
demolished. A ground-breaking ceremony will be planned sometime later this summer.
1.1.2 Edina Art Grant Program
No update
1.1.3 Review Public Art Opportunities for New City Facilities and Locations
Fulton updated Commission on the Art on Loan program. Four sculptures will be
installed along the Edina Promenade prior to August 30.
1.1.4 Commission Participation in Community Events
Scully discussed the Fourth of July Parade plan. Commission made plans to meet the
morning of the parade and march together.
1.1.5 Utility Box Art Wrap Program
Fulton reported that there are currently 15 individuals who have submitted designs. Some
submitted multiple designs.

Curtin made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:54pm. Motion seconded
by Steinberg.
