Call to Order Chair Westlund called the meeting to order at 4:35 pm 2. Roll Call Members Present: Ann Curtin, Laura Westlund, Alyssa Fram, Alana Zbaren, Maxine Steinberg, Caroline Byrd, Jignasha Pandya, Bernadette Piacek-Llanes Members Absent: Tim Scully Staff Present: Laura Fulton, Recreation Supervisor 3. Approval of Meeting Agenda Commissioner Steinberg made a motion to approve the meeting agenda. Motion seconded by Commissioner Byrd. Ayes: Ann Curtin, Laura Westlund, Alyssa Fram, Alana Zbaren, Maxine Steinberg, Caroline Byrd, Jignasha Pandya, Bernadette Piacek-Llanes No: None Motion Passed 4. Approval of Meeting Minutes 4.1. Minutes Commissioner Curtin made a motion to approve meeting minutes. Motion seconded by Vice Chair Zbaren. Ayes: Ann Curtin, Laura Westlund, Alyssa Fram, Alana Zbaren, Maxine Steinberg, Caroline Byrd, Jignasha Pandya, Bernadette Piacek-Llanes No: None Motion Passed 5. Special Recognitions and Presentations 6. Community Comment Kathy Rendleman, Executive Director of the Edina Education Fund, thanked the commission for the 50th and France Art Grant. Rendleman reported that the Edina Concert Band will perform at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago in December. The group will be playing with Timothy Mahr, professor emeritus at St. Olaf College. Torrie Allen and Tiffany Cooper-Allen, residents of Edina, expressed their appreciation to Commission members for their work promoting public art in our community. 7. Reports/Recommendations 7.1. Arts and Culture Commission Workplan Update 1.1.1 Art Center Colocation Fulton presented updates on the Edina Art Center. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new site will be held on Friday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. 1.1.2 Edina Art Grant Program Fram presented that the mural at the Early Learning Center is complete. The initiative group will meet in September to discuss how they will gather and report data from this year's art grant process. 1.1.3 Review Public Art Opportunities for New City Facilities and Locations Fulton presented photos of the newly installed Art on Loan sculptures. Commission members discussed more opportunities for new sculptures. 1.1.4 Commission Participation in Community Events Commission members discussed participation at the Fall into the Arts Festival. Byrd mentioned that the initiative group make a one-sheet FAQ sheet for next year. 1.1.5 Utility Box Art Wrap Program Fulton presented one of the five design mock-ups. Fulton reported that utility box wrapping should begin soon. 1.1.6 City Code Update - Article III Boards, Committees and Commissions, Division 8. Arts and Culture Commission City code updates are complete. City staff is reviewing comments from the Commission. 8. Chair and Member Comments No comments from chair or members 9. Staff Comments Fulton reported that fall session 1 is coming to an end mid-October and asked commission members to promote the upcoming fall 2 session classes. 9.1. Upcoming Meetings & Events 9.2. Upcoming classes at the Edina Art Center 10. Adjournment Vice Chair Zbaren made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fram.
