The Edina Police Department may cite violators of the winter parking rules or, if necessary, tow their vehicles. If a vehicle is obstructing the path of a snowplow and needs to be moved, Police will make every effort to reach the vehicle owner. However, if the owner cannot be contacted, the vehicle will be towed. Illegally parked vehicles not only slow down plowing operations, but they can create hazardous situations for drivers. In a snowstorm, plow drivers may not see a parked car and hit it by accident. Parked cars can also get blocked or buried by banks of plowed snow making them difficult for other drivers to see.
