Call to Order Chair Khalifa called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. II. Roll Call Answering Roll Call: Commissioners Rogers, Khalifa, Nelson, Stringer Moore, Stone, Park Staff Present: Gillian Straub, City Management Fellow & MJ Lamon, Special Projects & Engagement Manager Absent: Student Commissioners Borah and Mohamud-Karie Late Arrival: Dawkins III. Approval of Meeting Agenda Motion by Commissioner Nelson to approve the May 1, 2024, meeting agenda, seconded by Commissioner Rogers. Motion carried. IV. Approval of Meeting Minutes Motion by Commissioner Stringer Moore to approve the minutes from the March 26, 2024, meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Nelson. Motion carried. V. Community Comment A. Meriwether Felt, 4116 Grand Ave S (commenting on Juneteenth, wanting a larger event). ARC will be screening A Binding Truth at theaters and will be open to Edina residents, 10-12pm and 6-8 pm. B. Kelly Streits 5421 Kellogg Ave (thanking Meriwether Felt’s comment and the HRRC commissioners for their work) VI. Reports/Recommendations A. Bias Event Response Plan Proposed Update • Staff Liaison Straub reviewed changes to the Bias Event Response Plan. Draft Minutes☐ Approved Minutes☒ Approved Date: 6/25/2024 • Staff collected feedback from commissioners to consider quarterly reports on bias events to HRRC and in favor of this process transitioning to internal staff. Bianca arrived at 7:18 pm. B. 2024 Work Plan • Commissioner discussed updates on the Days of Remembrance event and resolution. • Commissioners discussed timelines for each initiative and the commissioner who will work on initiative. o Initiative 1 – Commissioner Nelson, Park, and Ismail o Initiative 2 – Commissioner Rogers, Dawkins, and Nelson o Initiative 3 – Commissioner Khalifa, Stone, and Park o Initiative 4 – not applicable. o Initiative 5 – Commissioners Rogers, Stone, and Stringer Moore • Commissioner Nelson provided an update on the Days of Remembrance event. • Staff Liaison Straub provided an update that the Days of Remembrance resolution was adopted by City Council. V. Chair and member comments • Received. VI. Staff Comments • Received. VII. Adjournment Commissioner Nelson moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Stringer Moore seconded. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:08 pm.
