New Cross-Country Ski Trails Open in Braemar Park
Edina, Minn., Jan. 5, 2026 – Classic cross-country and skate skiing trails are being groomed this winter in the snow atop Braemar Golf Course.
Braemar Golf staff use a 72-inch Sno-Master groomer, pulled by a utility vehicle, to groom a 2-mile loop of trails. The equipment was purchased with funds from a voter-approved half-cent
sales and use tax that is paying for $8.1 million in Braemar Park improvements. The ski trails are part of that project.
“The trails are highly appreciated and already well used,” said Park Planner Rachel Finberg, who is overseeing the Braemar Park improvements.
No permits are required to use the trails, which are easily accessed from the driving range/Academy 9 area of the golf parking lot, 6364 John Harris Drive.
Snowshoeing is not allowed on ski trails. Walkers are asked to remain on the walking trails and avoid stepping into the groomed ski trails.
Please note the trails are not immediately groomed after snowfall. Plowing and clearing areas for public safety comes first.
The initial ski trail design is being tested this winter and could be modified in future winters.
