Northbound Highway 100 On-Ramp at West 50th Street Will Have Temporary Closures Beginning Jan. 21
Ramp Will Close Weekdays From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Through Mid-February
Edina, Minn., Jan. 16, 2026 – Beginning Jan. 21, the northbound Minnesota Highway 100 on-ramp at West 50th Street will close during daytime hours on weekdays. The ramp will be closed
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and will reopen outside of those hours to accommodate peak commuting periods and weekend traffic. This work is expected to last three to
four weeks and should be completed by mid-February.
This closure will allow construction crews to safely install the noise wall planks for the new 20-foot-tall, approximately 1,000-foot-long noise wall along the northbound on-ramp as
part of the Vernon Avenue & Highway 100 Interchange project. Although the wall structure was constructed earlier in the project, supply delays prevented the planking from being added
at that time. Because some sections of the wall are very close to the ramp, this work cannot be completed safely while traffic is present. Temporarily closing the ramp during daytime
hours ensures a safer environment for both workers and drivers. Once complete, the new noise wall will reduce traffic noise and provide a visual buffer for nearby Sunnyslope Neighborhood
residents.
All other ramps on the new bridge over Highway 100 remain open and are not affected, and traffic signals will be installed on the bridge later this winter.
“This is an unfortunate delay caused by supply chain challenges. We are sorry for the impact to the traveling public and appreciate the patience,” said Public Works Director & City Engineer
Chad Millner.
