Banazewski, badge No. 172, said he wanted to become a Police Officer after his stint as a Resident Advisor at college where he worked closely with the University Police Department. “I saw firsthand the positive impact that officers had with the community,” he said. “After participating in a ride along with one of the officers, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in Law Enforcement.” “During his time with us as a Community Service Officer, it didn’t take long to realize he had a good work ethic,” said Police Chief Dave Nelson, at the swearing-in ceremony. “When our current application process closed, I was pleased to see John’s name on the applicant list. My first thought was ‘John wants to come home.’ As John was already part of our family, I’ll just say welcome home John, we missed you.” For more information on the Edina Police Department, visit EdinaMN.gov/Police. -30-
