HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-09-20 City Council Work Session Minutes MINUTES OF THE WORK SESSION OF THE EDINA CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY HALL SEPTEMBER 20, 2016 6:21 P.M. Mayor Hovland called the work session of the Edina City Council to order 6:21 p.m. ROLL CALL Answering rollcall was: Members Brindle, Staunton, Stewart, Swenson and Mayor Hovland Edina City Staff attending the meeting: Jennifer Bennerotte, Community & Technology Services Director; Kelly Dumais, City Management Fellow; Debra Mangen, City Clerk; Chad Millner, Engineering Director; Scott Neal, City Manager; Joyce Repya, Senior Planner; Lisa Schaefer, Assistant City Manager and Cary Teague, Community Development Director. JOINT MEETING WITH EDINA HERITAGE PRESERVATION BOARD Edina Heritage Preservation Board Members attending the meeting included: Chair Michael Birdman, Members: Bruce McLellan, Jennifer Christiansen, Scott Loving, Sara Nymo, Peter Sussman and Student Members Hannah Nemerov and Payton Puerzer. Members of the Board reviewed with the City Council the progress on the 2016 Work Plan Initiatives. They noted that the Wooddale Bridge was designated an Historic Landmark and a plan of treatment adopted by the City Council. Various ways to explore bringing historic trends to homeowners attention, the possible development of an application that could be appended to the Edina To Go regarding historic landmarks, ways to help homeowners explore the history of their residences and the work the Board will undertake updating the 2018 Comprehensive Plan were all discussed. A tour of the Adath Yeshurun Cemetery located at 5605 France Avenue South was announced for Sunday October 9, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. to be led by Peter Sussman. The City Council thanked the Board for their work. ADJOURNMENT Mayor Hovland adjourned the meeting at 6:55 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Debra A.
