VII.A. AMEND VEAP GRANT AGREEMENT FOR EMERGENCY RENTAL
ASSISTANCE — APPROVED
Affordable Housing Development Manager Hawkinson read a statement in full regarding the need
for emergency rental assistance due to the impact Operation Metro Surge on residents in Edina.
Manager Hawkinson noted that staff recommends funding $300,000 for emergency rental assistance
and approving all necessary agreements and related documents to implement and administer the
program using the 2026 LANA funds.
The Board asked questions regarding the funding level, the rental assistant fund level, and the use
of Fire Station #2.
Kari Thompson, VEAP, stated that they have secured 600 volunteers from this community who
have come together to help their neighbors. Mrs. Thompson noted that they have helped 61
households so far, and they have about $8,000 left to help with rental assistance.
The Board thanked Ms. Thompson for the help VEAP has been to this community.
