The Edina Park and Recreation Department
is always looking for ways to better serve the
people who utilize our programs and facilities.
With so many great options already available,
we hope to offer new and improved opportu-
nities year after year. For the 2012 season, we
are proud to introduce a big addition at the
Edina Aquatic Center: The FlowRider. A “wave
in a box,” this attraction will give Midwestern-
ers the chance to surf right in their own back-
yard. The brainchild of experienced surfers in
La Jolla, California, the FlowRider will offer
EAC patrons the utmost in human generated
wave technology.
Rather than being a thrill-based ride, the
FlowRider is an amenity that requires the de-
velopment of surfing skill. While patrons with
wakeboarding and snowboarding experience
may have a leg up, we invite swimmers 50
inches and taller of varying levels to give surf-
ing a try.
Seeking to make this ride approachable for
everyone, the FlowRider will give novices a
chance to try a board sport in a safe environ-
ment, but also provides a challenge for ex-
perienced surfers. While a veteran rider may
develop the ability to do tricks, the newbie can
simply enjoy riding the wave, all while build-
ing confidence hanging ten. A skill to be mas-
tered over time, there’s no telling who will rule
the waves this summer.
Living up to its reputation as the premier
waterpark in the Twin Cities area, we believe
this new ride will give patrons just one more
reason to spend the summer at our facility.
Bringing the coast to you in Summer 2012,
the FlowRider is sure to make a splash at the
Edina Aquatic Center. We hope you’ll join us!

Edina Swim Club has a tradition of ex-
cellence that has continued for over 50
years! The primary goal is to promote the
sport of swimming and create an envi-
ronment where each swimmer is able to
reach their highest potential as an athlete
and be a valued member of our team.
All levels of swimmers in the area par-
ticipate in an energetic, competitive, team
oriented atmosphere, where the whole
family can be involved. Gator swimmers
range from young beginners, to National
and Olympic Trial qualifiers. The pro-
gram also includes Masters swimming, for
adults looking to stay fit or compete.
The competitive swimming schedule is
divided into two seasons: fall/winter and
spring/summer. Edina Swim Club is a
great way to jump into a sport that can be
a lifelong source of fun and fitness.

The program is open to individuals,
families, religious or community ser-
