RESOLUTION NO. 2012-158
REQUESTING THE METROPOLITAN AIRPORTS COMMISSION TO
CREATE A DESIGNATED COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVE POSITION FOR THE
CITY OF EDINA ON THE NOISE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) has created the Noise Oversight
Committee (NOC) and charged it with a mission to identify, study and analyze airport noise issues and
solutions; provide policy recommendations or options to the MAC Finance, Development and
Environment Committee and full Commission regarding airport noise issues; monitor compliance with
established noise policy at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP); and ensure the collection of
information and dissemination to the public; and,
WHEREAS, the MAC has established bylaws which control the membership and operation of the
NOC; and,
WHEREAS, the quality of life in the City of Edina may be profoundly impacted by aviation noise
that results from proposed changes to the aviation navigation systems currently in use for aviation
operations at MSP; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Edina does not currently have a formal representative on the NOC for the
purpose of contributing to future aviation noise discussions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Edina City Council requests the Metropolitan
Airports Commission amend Article II, Section 4(a) of the bylaws of the Noise Oversight Committee to
create a new Designated Community Representative position on the Noise Oversight Committee
designated for a representative from the City of Edina
