Tuesday, April 13, 1982

I. ASSOCIATION PRESIDENTS
After a short social hour with the association presidents, a brief meeting followed.
Each association president gave a summary of their programs including number of
participants. The association president's from the Edina Basketball_ Association
and the Edina Soccer Association did not attend the meeting. Fred Richards stated
both the associations and the park board should remain open with each other and
if a problem does arise in an association, the park board should be made aware of
i t.
Bob Kojetin mentioned that he hoped that the continuity between the park board and
the associations would continue. Mr. Kojetin briefly stated the insurance
coverage that each association should have.
Joan Lonsbury thanked all the association presidents for coming to the meeting and
explained some of the philosophy of the park board in dealing with the different
associations. She also mentioned that the associations should listen to the park
board's advice, and if problems do arise, the park board would be happy to work
with the association to solve it.
Fred Richards summarized some of the budget cuts that the council had approved that
involved the park department. He stated that if any problem'arises involving park
equipment or anything else pertaining to an association, the association should
bring it up with the park board or the city council.
The meeting with the associations adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Joan Lonsbury MOVED that the Minutes of the March 9, 1982 board meeting be approved.
Art Erdall SECONDED the motion. MOTION CARRIED.
III. EHA TRAVELING TEAMS
Bill Lord mentioned that he had spoken to Bonnie Collins in regards to the number
of traveling teams in hockey. Bonnie Collins was concerned that the number of
teams was going to change. John Keprios mentioned that the number of traveling
teams was to remain the same, two teams per league. Bill Lord said that he will
get back to Bonnie Collins and tell her about the decision.

Joan Lonsbury stated that at the May Park Board meeting she would like an
update on Edinbourgh Park. She would also like an update on the improvements
of the Braemar Clubhouse and maintenance garage. Joan Lonsbury briefly went
over some upcoming dates to remember, such as the volunteer awards recognition,
the ice show, and the Braemar Stone Dedication.
VI. CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS
Bob Kojetin explained that the Edina Federated Women's Club is donating $6400
for picnic tables that will be used when the new picnic shelter at Cornelia
Pool park is built. The Federated Women's Club will be donating this money
over a three year period starting with this year. The aluminum picnic tables
will each be engraved with "Donated by Edina Federated Women's Club". Bob
Kojetin briefly went over some of the budget cuts in the capital fund. He
stated that even with budget cuts, the picnic shelter at Cornelia Pool park
would be built this year.

There was a brief discussion on the possibility of the schools charging each
student with a fee for participation in sports. The fee would be for equipment
usage and field rental. The question of the park board backing such a decision
was discussed. The possiblity of the park board offering more activities if
the schools cut these activities due to budget cuts was also discussed.
Art Erdall MOVED for adjournment, Don Wineberg SECONDED this motion. Meeting was
adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
