Policy On Running Events in City of Edina Mr. Kojetin recommended a policy for runing events in the City of Edina based on a discussion in a meeting which he had with Chief of Police, Craig Swanson, Mr. Rosland and Mr. Fran Hoffman. The recommendation is that because of the growing interest in running events and the possible problems which may develop in trying to control running events on streets in Edina, all organized running events in the city of Edina be confined to Braemar Park. This policy would do two things. It would control organized running events within Edina and eliminate the use of streets for such activities, making police supervision a minimal problem since they would only have to deal with two entrances - the Dewey Hill and Valley View entrances, and not create a traffic control problem. Minutes of Dec. Park Board Meeting -2- The running path around the Braemar Golf Course is 2.8 miles. If an event was to be held and started in the arena parking lot, it would be very easy to have a three mile course within the park. A lot of the racing events are 10 kilometers, which is 6.2 miles. A discussion was also held on some type of an individual fee being set for participants. Don Wineberg made a MOTION and Mack Thayer SECONDED, THAT THE POLICY FOR RUNNING EVENTS IN EDINA WOULD BE THAT ALL ORGANIZED RUNNING EVENTS IN THE CITY OF EDINA WOULD BE HELD AT BRAEMAR PARK AND AN INDIVIDUAL FEE WOULD BE ESTABLISHED WHICH WOULD COINCIDE WITH FEES CHARGED IN OTHER LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
