Citizens to Preserve the Edina Regional Medical District (CPERMD) sued the City in October, alleging the City Council’s decision to amend the Edina Comprehensive Plan and rezone property at 3330 W. 66th St. for Beacon Interfaith’s “66 West” project was unlawful. The members of CPERMD are property owners and business owners located in the District who have “invested significant funds in the improvement of the District based on the designation of the District in the Comprehensive Plan and the City Code as medically related,” according to the complaint. Among other things, CPERMD sought an injunction to stop construction of 66 West. Fourth Judicial District Court Judge James A. Moore dismissed the case without prejudice Feb. 12. “The City Council approved the land use regulatory changes for the Beacon project because they believe the 66 West project is important to the community,” said City Manager Scott Neal. “They have never wavered from that belief. We’re glad the plaintiffs have dropped their lawsuit because it allows everyone working on the 66 West project to move on with confidence.” For more information on actions of the Edina City Council, visit www.EdinaMN.gov. -30-
