The discussion, which focuses on drive-thrus, is available until Jan. 30. Drive-thrus are allowed in Planned Commercial Districts (PCDs) and have different regulations depending on the use, according to City Code Sections 36-613 and 614. There are more than a dozen drive-thrus in Edina for businesses such as restaurants, banks and pharmacies. In the discussion, the City asks if it should consider prohibiting new drive-thrus, what residents’ general opinions of drive-thrus are, what types of businesses work best with drive-thrus, and whether or not residents have any environmental or health concerns about idling cars. Feedback from this discussion will be presented to the City Council March 17. In January, the City gathered feedback on the City’s liquor laws. Questions included whether residents think the City should eliminate the connection between food and liquor sales for restaurants, if residents would welcome bars or taprooms, and if residents have any concerns if the food-to-liquor sales ratio were eliminated. Findings from that discussion will be presented to the City Council Feb. 17. To weigh in on a discussion, visit www.SpeakUpEdina.org. -30-
