Mayor accepts nominations for annual volunteer awards
Edina, Minn., March 6, 2015 – Edina Mayor James B. Hovland is accepting nominations for his
annual Mayor’s Commendations.
Hovland presents awards for volunteerism at the annual Volunteer Recognition Reception. This year’s
event will be held Wednesday, April 29, at Braemar Golf Course, 6364 John Harris Drive. The awards
are:
Mayor’s Individual Service Commendation, awarded to an individual for outstanding volunteer
service to the community at large.
Mayor’s Service Club Commendation, awarded to a club or organization that has made
outstanding contributions to the community through its regular activities or through special
projects.
Mayor’s Connecting With Kids Commendation, awarded to an individual or organization making
a positive impact in the lives of Edina youth.
Mayor’s Youth Commendation, awarded to a young person who has demonstrated a
commitment to improving the quality of life in the community.
Mayor’s Outstanding Senior Commendation, awarded to a senior citizen for outstanding
volunteer service within the community.
Mayor’s Community Involvement Commendation, awarded to a City employee for outstanding
volunteer service to the community, above and beyond his or her position with the City.
Nomination forms are available online at www.EdinaMN.gov or by contacting Executive Assistant Heather
Branigin, 952-826-0403. Nominations are due 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 3. Nominators will be contacted
directly about their nominations in advance of the Volunteer Recognition Reception.
