Fire damages Edina home on Tifton Drive
Edina, Minn., May 11, 2015 – The Edina Fire Department was called to the 5200 block of Tifton Drive at
3:30 p.m. Monday, May 11, after receiving reports of a house fire.
Fire crews arrived to discover a working fire on the second floor of the house. Firefighters were able to
contain the fire to a bedroom where the fire appears to have started. However, there was smoke damage to
the entire home. Two family members were home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
“Smoke detectors should never be undervalued,” said Fire Marshal Jeff Siems who added, “have an escape plan
to get out and call 9-1-1 if your alarms sound or you see signs of smoke or fire.”
The Edina Fire Department received mutual aid from the Bloomington, Eden Prairie and Richfield fire
departments.
