A variety of Frisbee-related events will be held for participants of all ages. Experienced players will offer individual and family lessons, teaching basic and advanced skills throughout the day. Several contests will be held for participation or viewing, including accuracy and distance competitions. “We are really excited about this annual event. It brings a great crowd and a variety of ages,” said Recreation Supervisor Amanda Clarke. “We really enjoy our partnership with Cool Planet.” The annual festival is organized by Cool Planet. The festival is a program striving to strengthen and empower the community by providing fun and engaging opportunities for residents to join together in local homegrown solutions to climate change. Edina Parks & Recreation, Gotta Go Gotta Throw and the Minnesota Frisbee Association (MFA) are proud sponsors, collaborating in the creation of the annual event. “The festival is an opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to come and learn the joy of playing Frisbee,” said Cool Planet Co-founder Paul Thompson. “The festival focuses on the simplicity of the flying disc. All you need is a disc and the willingness to go outside and try a new skill you will be able to enjoy the rest of your life.” The Minnesota Overall Flying Disc Championship will also be held over the weekend. It will begin 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at Highlands Park and will continue 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, June 28, at Bryant Lake Disc Golf Course, 6800 Rowland Road, Eden Prairie.
