Fireworks may not be used on public property, such as in parks. Siems highlighted some key safety instructions for residents using fireworks:  Have at least on supervisor present, one of whom is not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Always read, understand and follow all instructions.  Choose a safe place that is a not near anything that could start on fire or be damaged.  Once the firework is extinguished, dispose of it in a pail of water with a shovel to ensure safety. “For the most part, the City has not had trouble [with fireworks] in the past,” Siems said. “Use common sense and be aware of your surroundings.” Police will enforce the sale, possession and use of fireworks -- especially as July 4 draws near. The Fire-Rescue & Inspections and Police departments will respond to complaints and confiscate all illegal fireworks.
