Officers identified in shooting incident
Edina, Minn., Aug. 12, 2015 – The Edina Police Officers involved in the Aug. 8 shooting incident that
occurred in the 7500 block of Cahill Avenue have been identified as Keith Boerger and David Boosalis.
Boerger has been employed with Edina Police since 2000. In 2003, he began work as a Police Officer. Boosalis
has been employed with Edina Police since 2007 as a Police Officer.
The officers have been placed on routine paid administrative leave, per department policy.
The incident is under investigation by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. On Tuesday, Aug. 11, a complaint
was filed in District Court against suspect Colin Reinsmoen with charges of illegally possessing a firearm and
second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
Edina Police Chief Dave Nelson expressed his appreciation of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office for its
assistance in coordinating the investigation. Nelson said he believes the officers handled a very challenging
situation in an appropriate and reasonable manner under the circumstances.
