Public Art Edina Seeks Artists for Utility Box Wrap
Edina, Minn., Sept. 2, 2015 – Public Art Edina is looking for an artist to design a wrap for a utility box at
West 50th Street and Wooddale Avenue.
Public Art Edina has released a Call for Entries for submissions to wrap the utility box. Artists may
submit up to three two-dimensional works in digital format for consideration. A stipend of $100 will
be presented to the artist with the winning entry. The box will be wrapped in late October or early
November.
All Edina residents, including students, are eligible to apply. All work must be original. Amateur and
professional artists are welcome to submit. There is no age restriction.
Interested artists should send high-quality .jpg images of each original artwork to Art Center General
Manager Michael Frey. Any form of artwork is acceptable, including, but not limited to, paintings,
graphics, photography and sketching. No advertisement, promotion or nudity will be accepted.
An artist should include name, title of artwork, a photograph of himself or herself and a short
personal biography for promotional use. Students should list the names of their schools.
It is recommended that artists visit the first art wrap at 4121 W. 66th St. as well as the site of the
utility box to be wrapped at 50th Street and Wooddale Ave. to get a sense of what the area looks
like. The size of the box is 76 inches tall by 44 inches wide and 28 inches deep. The wrap will
surround the box.
