the Park board Wbers. The main objective zS recommended by the mud La
Task Fores is that approximately the 150 acre area, knavin as Hh;.-d Lake, be

The paths proposed within the nature center 011 be used strictly for
walking and in the winter cross country shling.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $463,000.00. Tha Department
of Natural Resources has approved $20,000.00 for the beginning of the outside
perimeter bika paths..
Vyler Adams questioned Ken Rus3and if thare would ba any flooding in this
area in the spring of the year. Ken Rusland stnted that if the present fload
plain Is proserved, the area could handle the high water that might occur.

tho Task Force may change depending an the allocation of funds and that the

Janmary 17, 1974.
Pat Turnbull maved the following res&UMD he passed lhonh% War
Dredesen for his service to the Park 00ard:
WHEREAS, Arthur Q Brednsan, U. served the Village of Edina for
23 Years in the capacity of Councilman and Mayor; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Mayor, the Village of Edina develspej
a complete park system of over 1,00 acres with appropriate occrCaden
facilities; and
WHEREAS, special facilities such as Rrazmav Arena, Braomar Pani llan
Draemar Gulf Zurse and the Edina Municipai SwImming Pool were compfetod;

WHEREAS, he gave the Park Board whole Noarted support;
MOW, THEREFORE, BE 17 RESOLVED that the Park Zoard of the V111an
of Edina heartily thank Arthur C. Dredaszn, jr. for his interest in
developing fine recreational facilities for the residents of Edina.

V. REPORT OF SUBCOMAITr.TEE AND COUSIL ACUON REGARUNG CAPITAL !NPROVEMENU
Kan Rosland reported that the subcoNaittee of Mr. Adams and Mr. Richards
met with Mr. Hyde, Mr. Dalan and Mayor UnValkenburg to discuss the proposa�-1
capital Improvements as i,*ecf�iiL:t-ri.,.-.,ti�,.i3 by the Park Board. The result of this
discussion was presented to the Council and Council approved the capital
improvements as follows:
$115,000 for various park an"I the construction
of four tennis courts.
$250,000 for Park Shelter 801dings (eliminating Garden and adding one
at tho Braemar Athletic Complex)
