Shy' STAFF PRESENT: K. Rosiand, 3. Kola in, R. Jacobson, and M. Bruns OTHERS PRESENT: Hrs. Vale, Rrs. Lonsbury, Bob Dunn, Don Galloway and Don Spielmann 1. Mr. Richards moved that the Wnutes ®f December 12, 1972, be approved as written. Mr. Ramsay seconded and the mot ion carried. 11. COUNTY HIGHWAX JIB AND Q-_ 'Y WaW, IMTE _1­NGE Mr. Don Gallaway and Mr. Don Spialmann of the Hennepin County Highwzy Department were introduced. Mr. raviewed the rroposed int24'chaage and stated one of the Post prominent reasons for the propozed interchange was be- cause of the accident potential during the peak rush hours on Highway #18. Discussion was held on who would benefit the greatest by this interchange -- the the traffic flow to Braemar Arena or people wanting access to the industrial development on the west side of Highway #18. Mr. Richards questioned why a ramp could not be built which would lead traffic diractly into the Arena parking lot from north and another ramp that would be used for people leaving the Arena Parking 10t getting back Ontc Highway 118. 6 Dr. Carson and Mr. Richards were quite concerned as to why an overpass was needed at all in this area. They were concerned about the amount of traf- fic that might be brought into the Village simply by WOO ShOrt-cutting the normai highway routes. Discussion was also heid regarding the potential damage of trees that are. directly west of the b0ifield complon and the reaiigning of the service read into Oreamar to limit the damage to the Wes. Mr. Turnbul I moved t general concept, as proposed by County Nigh ay Department, be recommended to Council with the undnrstandines that all ems' OUS be made to realign the service rcad to saves the trees. Rosland read a letter from Mr. Tom Schouai-Man, Presidant of the Edina Swim Club requesting the Park and R -(creation Department to CIO a feasibilit'l study on possibly covering the present GutdWr swimlng Poo' or the building of a second pool. The letter stated the Swim Club is growing t:reimendously and in order to meet the Increasing demands ma -re W001 space is,definitely needed. Discussion f0Il0W6d In which Dr. Baranauckas stated the two Pools in the schools are used tori.,aximum capacity with school activities. He sk:ggested the School Board and Park Board werk together to do a feasibility study an the exact needs, costs, etc., of building an additional pool. Chairman Adams stated he would talk to Mr. Rosland concerning how this study should be put together - V. RECREATION REPORT. This year the Park and Recreation DepartmBilt will atte"'llpt to prat out a year -around brochure listing all activities for the year' "Pefully' tilts will save printing and alai lilng costs from two brochures that hnva been previcuslY sent out. Vt. Mr. Adams requested he appoint a cornmittee to met with Mr. Hyde and Mr. Dalen to recotmnend 1973 fees and charges for the golf "curse., arena and pool. This cowittee will then make their I-ecommenelations at the next Park Board Meeting. V11. Mr. Rosland stated the BicYcla.
