1Q Ar. Carson moved that the minutes of June 5, 1967, be approved as
written. Dr. Jackson seconded and the motion carried.
31® t1r. Dalen, Village finance Director, vas present at the Park Board
meeting to explain the central services used by the golf course. The golf
course is charged $10,435.99 for the services they obtain from the central
garage. Mr. Dalen also presented to the Board a list comprised of each
piece of equipment and its actual coast for the year 1966.
113. G01� COURSE REPORT
The financial statement for the golf course for six months ending
June 30, 1967, was reviewed by the hoard. The revenue for this period
totaled $72,770 and net income from operating departments totaled $5,748.
Operating expenses were $46,053, interest on bonds and loan, $16,160 and
provision for depreciation, 02,243, leaving a net income of $14,062. The
Board agreed that the golf course operation looked very favorable at this
time.
Mr. Koajetin reported that only three weeks are remaining of the sum -
aver activities with the exception of swain instruction in August. This year
the biggest registration increases were in creative dramatics, theater and
adult tennis.
V. BUDGET SEC I-10AT1OTj
The 196: recom-ended Park. and Recreation Department Budget was pre-
rented to the Board. The Park Department as requesting a total budget of
$198,807, which is a $19,190 or 10% increase over last year. Action from
the Board will be takers at the August meeting.
V1. LETTER FROK 10S. CDARUS f°. HANSEN
A. letter received from Mrs. Charles F. Hansen, 5109 Wiest 66th Street,
concerning the preservation of the pond and woods south of 66th Street and
Tingdale Avenue for a natural park was discussed. Mrs. Hansen stated in
her letter that this area was ars playground for youngsters and a haven for
wildlife and she felt that it should be preserved in its natural state.

After much discussion, Y'ar. Adams S avred that the guard recoimend that
the Council seriously consider trying to obtain this property by donation
and that they appoint firs. Hansen to work with the neighbors to see what
can be done to obtain the property. Mr. olebi.nk seconded and the motion
carried.
T. Ci ITTEE REPORTS
egjivffi tCe s- Dr. Jackson reported that the Braemar Stadium
Comittee met and discussed some of the following points; :the Committee
felt that the Park and Recreation Department did not need a football sta-
dium. However, if there was no other place available and the School Board
felt that a new stadium war, needed., possibly the Pillage of Edina should
participate in providing land. The expenses for the building of a stadium
should be borne by the School but the use would be shared with the 1Park. and
Recreation Department for their football and other programs which could be
held in the stadium.
Mar. Hyde stated that a meeting, had been held with Mr. Fico, tor. Pryor
Dr. Myers, lir. Rojetin and himself concerning this project and the outcome
was that the School officials would obtain some definite cost figures on
the project. At the present time, a letter stating this information from
the School has not yet been received.
Shelter Go -'14r. Lewis reported that the Shelter Committee had
met and agreed to obtain actual cont figures can the proposed dhelter build-
ing both with and without plumbing facilities. These cost estimates should
be ready for the Boardas reviewaal in the near future.
Vill. Discussion way held on the changing of the meeting date of the Park
Board to a night when it does not conflict with Council meeting. The Board
agreed to change the meeting date of their next meeting to the second Tues-
day of the month instead of the first Monday.for experimentation of a new
day.
