IV. BRAENA'A AREA REPORT
The spring work that was scheduled for completion at Breemar Arena
hasbeen comapleted except for the installing of the Plexiglas. This will'
be finished prior to the opening of the Lake Conference Hockey Season.
Mhe Arena has had a problem with condensation and fog. Louvers
have been added to the rink side of the duct system and with the blowing
of warm air directly over the ceiling of the Arena, this problem has been
corrected.
V. A list of employees as requested by the Park Board at their pre-
vious meeting was presented pointing out that the Park and Recreation
Department currently has 20 full time employees and 126 summer employees.
VI. SURVEILLANCE SYSTEN
Mr. Rosland stated that he and Mr. Dalen have been Investigating
alarm systems for the Arena and golf course. The surveillance system at
the Arena would cost $1,687.50 with an annual charge for leasing a tele-
phone line and service contract of $288.00, Wr ' iting the total cost off in
ten years, the cost to the Village pwould per year wld be $456'.75. This Sur-
veillance system is designed by Honeywell,
At present, the alarm system at the golf course costs $702.00.
Installing the same type of system that would be at the Arena, the cost
would be $1,750.50 plus an annual cost ok $288.00 for service contract
and leasing a telephone line. If it is written off in ten years, in-
cluding interest on the investment, the total annual cost would be
$550.58. The saving per year over the present system would be $151.42.
It was recommended that the surveillance system be installed
this year at the Arena and the following year at the golf course. Mr.
Adams moved that we purchase the system for the ATena this year and
install this same system at the golf course next year. Mr. Enroth
seconded and the motion carried. Mr. Giebink voted nay.
VII. BUDGET

1967. The total requested budget ums $174,904.00, which is an Increase of
$11,554.00 over laat year. Much of the budget increase was due to the
addition of NorningS4de to Edina.
The Park Board reviewed the increases and accepted the budget as
it was presented. Mr. Rolland asked that the members of the Board notify
him if there was anything in the budget that did not meet with their
approval upon later reviewal of the budget.,
Edina Park Board Minutes ..3 -
July 11, 1966
VIU. Mr. Rosland presented a petition to tte Park Board from the
neighbors on Rutledge Avenue between Division and Notor Streets. The
petition requested that the Park Board purchase the house that is
situated at the northeast corner of Division and Rutledge Park on Rutledge
Avenue. The house itself is in a verydilapidatedstate and is a neigh-
borhood "eyesore".
Mr. Rosland reported that in City Federal has contacted him
requesting that the Village buy this home. Twin City Federal, who has
the mortgage for the homeowners, thought the house could be purchased
for $8,000. Mr. Rosland stated that from a park point of view, this
house is not a "must" for continuing park activities. However, Mr.
Rosland also stated that the Village may have an obligation to purchase
the property®
Mr. Adams moved that we take no action to purchase the house
at the present time. Mr. Conover seconded and the motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Ken Rosland, Secretary
Edina Park Board
