Edina ParkBoard Minutes -24 August 15, 1966 The me jor use for Outlot One is for a reserve ponding area. The Park Board was it general agreement that this area should be devel- oped for a cost of approximately $2,000 $2,5130. Mr. Stevens stated we should defer action on this until the nest meeting so a utilization plan of this area could be made. The Board agreed with this and official action was tabled until the next Park Beard weeting. Three studies of shelter buildings were presented to the Board. Mr. Rosland told the Board that a fourth study was not complete at this til but would be available for their next meeting. It was the feeling of some. Board members that these buildings were pos- sibly more elaborate than needed. The Board asked that the fourth architec- tural study be less elaborate and similar to the one at Cornelia School.. The cost estimates would include the construction of toilet facilities, and heat- ing separate from the remaining part of the structure. Mr. Oiercks recommended building in simplicity similar study, V. Diercke moved that we OCCePt the 1967 program and recomend it to the Council. Mr. Levis seconded and the motion carried. V1® It has been requested by the Junior Football Association to install lights in some park area. The reason for this request is that it is getting more difficult to got coaches because businessmen cannot get away early in the afternoon to conduct practices an well as weekends are becoming more dif- ficult to schedule games because of conflicts with Minnesota Viking and Gopher football games. The only park area possibly available at this time. for lights is the soccer field at Breemer Park. It was pointed out that Braemar is possibly not the best location because of the poles that either would have to remain in the park or be taken down and removed each year. Mr. Diercks stated that possibly Valley View Junior High area could be lighted. Mr. Rosland stated that he and Nr. Kojetin would check into this ,further. Mr. Adams moved that we provide lights for the Junior Football Associa- tion. Mr. Lewis seconded and the notion carried. V11.
