Mr. Jordan moved that the minutes of the December 14, 1964 Edina Park Board meeting be approved as writren. Mr. Diereks seconded and the motion carried. !I. HARSH PROPERTY - VALLEY V1W ENTRAIX31 TO 3111124,11-11a Mr. Rosland reviewed with the Park Board members the property in question which borders the east side of Valley View Road and the north side of our park boundary. It was pointed out that this property was discussed at the December 14, 1964 meeting and the Board tabled the question at that time so that they could tate a look at the area. At the last meeting Mr4 Hite had requested that wre purchase this property to protect the Valley View entrance to Braemal- plus it would be an emergency pending reservoir in the event oZ heavy storms© Mr. Rosland stated that Hr. Hite, in his conversations with r® Nackall, the attorney for the Harsh Estate, pointed out that he felt the Village would not pay more than $500.00 per acre for this property. Stevens called upon Mayor Dredesen to discuss with the Park Board mewbers their responsibilities as a Park Board member and the Park Board's relationship to the Council. Mr. Adams moved and Dr. Jackson senonded that nominations be closed and a unanimous vote was cast Or bx- Stevens and Mr- Dier"' Mr. Crinkley stated that a vote of thauhs should be given to it. TREK CENTER REPORU Mr. Stevens stated that he had called Dr� Jackson following the last meeting and ashad him to represent the park Board on the Teen Center, Inc. Board of Directors and Dr. jackson haa :accepted® Dr. Jackson reported that he attended a meeting at mfich Mr. Robert Xuenzli was elected Chairman of the Teen Center, Inc. Board of Directors; Don Brauer (representing Rotary) was elected Secretary; and Nen XOSland (representiug the Village of Edina) Treasurer. It was reported that there were 508 students attending the first dance December 29 and 472 stu4ents at the January 9 dance. Mr. Hosland reported that the first to=o dances have been very successful, the students are vell bdhaved and after the next three damcen Che Board will meet and review Cheir pilot program and decide at that time whether it will be advizable to continue the pro gysm- Q. BECgRATIga,REPCS T Mr. ZoJetin reported that the junior Hockey program this year has 19 teams - 7 Pee Wee, 7 Bantam, 2Hidget and 3 Juvenile teams. Be stated that these teams will play S total Of 130 games between now and FabruarY 15'' It mas pointed out that the Midget registrations are down this year but the Juvenile registrations are up - Mr. Kojetin reported that the GirlIs Figuve Skating is Aven at tw areas - Normandale Park and Arden Pork. There are 32 girls registered at Vormandale and 28 girls at Arden The figure skating will be completed January 16 following the final less= The speed skating has had increased interest this year by moving to a new area behind 5712 Creek valley RDad. The speed stAting derby will be held Friday, Januavy 15, 1965 at 400 P.M. Winners of the events will go to an Ali -suburban Speed Skating Derby in RDbbinsdale on icaruary 23. At this particular meeting, there ;as munch �,Jscussion in regards to ibeltered ice but it was summed up that the co:wiittee representing the Park Board and the committee representing the citizen's group woLuld try to meet weekly in an effort to realize the eventual btiilding of a Sheltered ice center, Dr. Jackson pointed out also that the citizen's ccwronittee still bad a great deal of interest in not only a covered rink but artificial ice so that now they are talking in the neiginborbood of $,200,000 - Discussion ensued =Ong the earl, Board member at Aftich time Mr. Stevens appointed Nrm Giebink as Acting Chail-man Of the ice Comittee as fir® Robilliard will not be available for som�e time to serve as Chaizman.
