171. RECREATION REPMT
jjr® Kojetin reported that about 370 boys have registered for foot-
ball this year, an increase of about 65 boys.
The fourth and final class of the Firearpa Safety Course will start
Thursday, September 16, 1965. if enough interest is shown in a fifth
class, one will be started in October. The WippeTmalM Memorial Fund has
purchased five shot guns to be used in the rifle safety course. These
guns are used for trap shooting during the field classes® This Fund has
also purchased equipment for boys to load their own shells.
111. MAINTENANCE REPOWT
Due to the moist weather Suring August and the first part of
September, mowing maintenance has continued longer than normal; thus
it is estimated that the park crew is approrimately three weeks behind
in the painting and repa'jring of viarming houses and hockey rinks.

During the sunimer, cuttings have been talten from oak trees suspected
of oak wilt disease and sent to the university of Minnesota for Positive
identification. Last- week, a repast: came back from the University stating
that oak wilt was prevalent on a tree at zrae-vaar picnic Point, This tree
will be cut down, burned, and the area treated -Avith Vapa-ua. The Park
Department will continue taking cuttings from various public and some
private trees throughout the village within the next two to three weeks
to ascertain if there is any a4ditional oak wilt in the Village.
IV. GLEAS%J PROFEWIVY
Mr. qiosland reported to the Pak. Board that the village Council
approved the purchase of 22 acres of property in the Viud Lake area. This
property was bought for . 1,000 an scre.

mr. RoslaAd reviewed with the PaTk Board the financial progress Of
Braemar Arena. There were three additions to the general contract; one,.
additional conduit runs; two, additional reinforcement steel; and three,
installation of undGTgr0uId povyer to the building. it was pointed out
that there were three alternatives in regard to bringing pol,�ier into the
buildings first alternative, oveybead at no cost; second alternative,
primary power underground costing $3,000. with primary power underground
the transformers would set near the southwest corner of the building.
The third, alternative would be to run aecondaxy power underground directly
into the building. This would cost appro,-zimately $4,000.
Mr. Guyler Adams moved that the secondazy power be installed under-
ground thus eliminating transformers which may be dangerous and could
present a hazard. Mr. Enroth seconded and the,raotion carried.
With the above additions to the general contract, the present cost
estimate of the arena and site worl-, is 4506,489.00. However, with a
$5,000 commitment for advertising on the scoreboard, it brings the net
cost of the arena to $501,489.00.
Mr. Rosland reviewed with the Paxk Board the rates and charges of
the arena. it was pointed out that these will go to the committee for
study and a firm recommendation -will be made to the Park Board at their
October lltb meeting.
V1. PARK ORDINANCES
The park ordinances as previously sent to the Parla. Board were dis-
cussed. Mr. Lewis moved that the ordinances be recommended to the Council
for approval with one change, Sectimi 11, now reading, "Every person aboard
a water craft on any lake, pond or streara in the Village shall wear a life
preserver vest or similar buoyant device capable of keeping such person
afloat," shall read, "Every person aboard a dater craft on any lake, pond
or stream in the Village shall weer or have within reach a life preserver
vest or similar bouyant devi-e Capable of keeping such person afloat.
Mr. ,Adams. seconded and the motion carried.
