Rosland, Kojetin, Cooper, Hyde, end.Miss Voss. OTHERS: Messrs. Win Stephens, Don Knutson, Stu McIntosh, John Thayer, Jigs otness, its H es and Dr. Fox. I. tea;. Crinkley moved that the minutes of the May 31, 1964 Edina Park Board meeting be approved as written. Mr. Diercks seconded and the motion carried. A group of Edina residents composed of Win Stephens, Don Knutson, Stu McIntosh, John Thayer, Jia Otnesa, Dr. Fox and Jim Hawkes of Midwest Planning were present at the Park Board meeting to bring some more facts and figures to the Park Board as to the feasibility of a proposed comunity center and ice arena in Edina. Mr. Hawkes presented and reviewed a memOr4ndum to the Park Board from the Edina Citizens group on the proposed center. Mr. Hakes stated that the center is proposed to be located within the Lake Cornelia Park, immediately north and west of the present municipal swimming pool. Mr. Crinkley pointed out that many of the residents around Lake Cornelia are opposed to a community center being located in Cornelia Parck. Some discussion ensued on the subject and Mr. Diercks pointed out that he felt that this is a worthwhile project and should be studied further. Mr. Learns moved that a committee of Park Boardmembers* headed by Mr. Diercks, work with the Edina Citizens group and study further the feasibility of this project. Dr. Jackson seconded and the elation carried. III. CALF COURSE Mar. Diercks stated that Mayor Bredesen, Messars. Hyde, Cooper, Rannells, Rosland and himself had made an inspection tour of the golf course earlier that afternoon. He reported that he was well Impressed by the condition of the course and that the greens were In remarkablecondition with the exception of a few that need additional growth. He reported that it was the concenaus of the group that the 18 -hole course would be ready for play July 22; however, the 9 -hole Par 3 will not be ready from play at that time. The deriving range will be ready the week of June 15. The clubhouse construction is progressing moothly and the clubhouse should be completed July 15. Edina Park Board htnutos -2- dune 8, 1964 mi. Mr. Rosland assured the Board that extra effort ismada to maintain a high quality program - The men of the Peark Board set Judy 3 as the date for an inspection tour to see the various recreation activities in operation. . .. 964 Edina Park Board Minutes 4W Jure B, l Mr. Rosland presented to the Park Board a proposed plat for BraOMOr Hills which is adjacent to our Brawar Park and Golf Course. The proposal is to exchange Outlot b on the Brasma Hills plat for a ;tel corner of the Braemar Park property. This particular proposal was reipasted of the developer by the Planning Commisaion so that the streets in the development could be adjusted so that mane would border on the park property. Mr. Lewis moved 'that the Park Board recommend approval of this band exchange. Mr. Uiercks seconded and the motion caraied. Mr. Rosland presented to the Park Board a revised plat of.'Carl Hansen®s development in the ParkwDod Knolls area. The original plat provided that the northwesterly boundary be bordered by a street. 14r. Hans n's revised plat provides that the street be moved to than .north and homes back up to the park property. The Park Board showed concern over the fact that access to the property from that side m3 very limited and also the park mould now border on private property. ITS Mr. Roalsnd presented to the Park Board a progress Teport on the 1964 Capital Improvsawts program. He mentioned that generally 1964 ems a clean- up year and that many of the projects that were scheduled have been completed.
