HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992 12-17 Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting Minutes RegularMINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS HELD ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1992 5:30 P.M., EDINA CITY HALL MANAGER'S CONFERENCE ROOM MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair, Helen McClelland, Don Patton, Mike Lewis, Geof Workinger, and D. Byron STAFF PRESENT: Kris Aaker I. NEW BUSINESS: B-92-53 John and Penny McClintock 7419 Coventry Way Lot 9, Block 1, Lyle Buchanan Addition Zoning: R-1 Single Dwelling Unit District Request: A 6 foot rearyard setback variance Ms. Aaker presented her staff report noting the property is located along the southeast end of Coventry Way with the rear lot line of the parcel backed up to park area and Delaney Boulevard. The home is a contemporary style multi level structure built in 1967. The applicants are proposing a two story addition to the rear of the home which would encroach six feet into the required 25 foot setback area and would subsequently provide a .19 foot rearyard setback. Ms. Aaker concluded that staff can support the variance request if careful consideration is given to maintaining existing vegetation and if the approval is limited to the plans as presented. The proponents, Mr. and Mrs. McClintock were present to respond to any questions. Chair McClelland observed that the proposed addition suits the site, and any impact would be minimal. Shed added she can support the request if the proponents pay careful attention to maintaining the existing vegetation, and limit their construction to the plans submitted. A brief discussion ensued regarding landscaping. Mr. Lewis moved approval subject to plans as presented, and subject to staff conditions. Mr. Workinger seconded the motion.
