Mr. Hel a Thom;, Mcesegtina Oscar Robes s Company, requested that the Planning Commission consider the future zoning probabilities of the gravel pit areas along France Avenue south of 70th Street. He indicated that the gravel reserves were not yet depleted, but that the operators of the pits were beginning to weigh the economic adv-sntages of continuing pit operations against those advantages to be derived from possible light industrial or multiple residence use of the land. He pointed out that Bloomington is permitting the land along Highway #5-100 to be used for light manufacturing and that portions of the gravel pit areas are adjacent to these new plants. Mr. Odell informed Ater. Thomsen that the Planning Commission would be very interested in studying any proposal submitted by the property owners in that area, but that any such proposals should be tangible enough to give the Planning Commission some indication as to what specific types of land uses are being proposed. It would also, Mr. Odell raid, be advisable for all of the pit operators to join together and present a general overall plan for the entire area. No action taken. 2. Mr. Hite reported briefly on the Katherine Pearce court hearing. 3. JArs. DeSimone, representing the League of Women Voters, was present. YT* Hite said a planning study group had been formed by the League and that thev would be meeting soon. There being no further business, meeting adjourned at 9130 P.M. Respectfully submitted, L. M. Berry, Secretary.
