OTHER BUSINESS peara Rgzoning Decision. The Planning Commission reviewed Judge Meeks' latest and apparently final opinion of the Pearce re -zoning. Mr. Hite suggested that a possible course of action might be to rezone the affected property from Multiple Dwelling to Office Building District. He also suggested that the Office Building District of the Zoning Ordinance be revised so as to permit limited commercial use. This commercial use, he indicated, should be limited to those uses normally found within Office Building District, such as restuarants, drug stores, card shops, etc., and should be further limited to a certain percent of the total gross floor area within the office building. The Planning Commission asked that additional study be given to determine the pormitted uses and the percent of floor area to be used for commercial purposes and that a proposed amendment to the ordinance be prepared and submitted to them at their ;next meeting. Land Use Maty and 9t„ a,ig ic,s. A map upon which the existing land use with- in the Villpge was indicated was submitted to the Planning Commission for their study. Mr. Hite also presented some statistics regarding population, dwelling units and percent breakdown of the acreage within the Village de- voted to different types of land uses. The land use analysis indicated that about 45 percent of the acreage with- in the Village is devoted to residential use, roughly 15 percent to other urban uses and almost 40 percent of the Village was presently vacant land. Mr. Lewis pointed out that some of the vacant land was already zoned for specific uses while other portions of this vacant land would have to be considered as undesireable for development due to poor soil conditions. 10 Planning Commission blinutes - 3 November 2, 1960 PmU aj Mee tinc-- November 16, 1960.
