I. approval of the Setcember 23, 1970, Planning Cowanission �41�nutes. Mr. Hughes moved that the Septemiber 23, 1970, Planning Commission minutes be approved as submitted. Mr. C. Southwest EdUna Plan - Commit tea tieeeir� Mr. Frank Dean stated that a Committee has been selected in response to the planning Commission's request at the October 7, 1370 meeting, but indicated that the principle land owners to the west of Cahill Read were not contacted, largely because they did not contact the resa_dwrts after the layt meeting and because of the confusion regarding the ;nuke -up of the new co=nirtee. Mr., Dean stated that the co=aittee is composed of 1,',r. Jim Boatwright, a developer, Bill Howard, Jim Jundt, and Barbara 3undt, ;.esident3 of the area, Ed Sherman and Clarence Kemp, property owners in the area, and himself. Mr. Dean stated that: if the Committee had their way, they c=ould develop the entire area aspsingle family, with the possible exception of :some of the land along ;Jest 78th Street, which faces Bloomington, :interstate l.ighway 494, and other indus3trir? t development. Mr. Dean, referring; to t:hv plaza proposed by the Planning S -aff, stated that the comm_ ttee continues to oppose .any industrial development, west of Cahill Road, and would suggest instead apartment development :In than area (PIZD-2 densitties north of the axisting Dewey Hill. Road, and PRD -3 or PRD --4 densities south of the existing Dewey Hill Road). He indicated that they would also propose moving the northerly portion of the Dfzwey hill Road e:ztension to the east, south of the pont in that area, as the apartment traffic cannot use the dead -•and° ~; Cahill Road.. He further indicated that the Committee would propose that all other areas wast_ of the apartment development be zoned R.-1 (except the two i.'iast southerly areas proposed to be low density mixed residential. development (0-6 units per acre) , which lag indicated the Couumit:tee would not change'). Mr. Dean stated t.zat the Committee is in general agreement with their proposal, but added that there are stili :some residents that are strongly opposed to any development other: "ham single family homes in the area. He requested, however, that the residents and the Cotimitt.ee be notified when actual rezoning requests are received so that they might be able to express an opinion oda any pl_ans. Mr, Bob GlarV, a ncw resident of the '7700 C*-aFgow D-cive black, stated that he cannot understand the necessity of the proposed road (south oF Dl�t'.Tey Hill Road) being located in such close proxiri.-Lty to the second pondiug area near his hone. He stated that the nex-y road will put a 'L,Cuutlary on the future lak­_ aed - will ruin the area for wildlife, and sug-,ested the use ol;'.' cul-de-sacE or several alternative routras for the road.
