In reply to 11r. G. Johnson, Mr. LUce explained the road locntion proposed in
the Southwest Edina Plan is environmentally the bes,1- loctnion for 5.t because no

which could not be used to the fullest extent.®
A representative of Dimension Development Cot-porattion pt-esented three
alternative routings for Delaney Boulevard to 78th Street, and discussed the advan-
tages and disadvantages of each. He stated they will be proposing a tovahouse
development of about 12 units per acre on the site,
Mr. Runyan questioned whether the Traffic 3"a'ety Commit -tee hals review -ad the
proposed road aligmment, and Mr-, Dunn said they have, not. SeTvrrarsl membars of the

Mr. Orin johnston, owner of the property i -L question, stated his two
principal concerns are: I., the winter safety factor for those people travelling south
on Delaney Boulevard and east on West 78th Street, bet of whlch would be hazardots;
and 2. he would -roe required to pay half of the cc,:�t of tl--,e road, n1thougli-I his
property would not have access to it. 11r. Johnston suggested more knowledge of
the traffic situations on 78th Street and Cahill ftoael be obtained.
Following further discussion, 11r, Ericksov T_-j.pved that a dee _cion On this
matter be held over until a traffic study can be made, It was agreed that prints of
the alternative routes be -made available to the PIP.-n-ning Camm�ssion,., Mr. G. Johnso-n
seconded the motion, All. voted aye. Motion carries
Mr. Frank Dean, head of the Southwest E4ina homed.'ners &ssociation when the
Southwest Plan was approved, requested that the res:L6entE: Ln the arep, in qucsti=
be notified of the -next meeting at which this is to be discussed.

some of the tra4fic from Vernan Avenue onto other road systeims., and, because it was
conceptually approved as part of the Western Edina Plan. He -i.-Coo that this

done by the Engineering Department.
