EDINA HERITAGE PRESERVATION BOARD
REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 22, 1983, AT 8.00 P.M.
EDINA CITY HALL MANAGER'S CONFERENCE ROOM
MEMBER PRESENT: Chairman Foster Dunwiddie, Tom Martinson, Gordon Stuart,
Frank Thorpe and Lois Wilder
STAFF PRESENT: Harold Sand
I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Mr. Thorpe moved approval of the November 23, 1982, minutes.
Mr. Martinson seconded it. All vote aye.
II. SELF -GUIDED TOURS OF EDINA
There was a suggestion to clarify or define some of the architectural
terms contained in the Country Club District walking tour. The length of
the tour was discussed and there was a suggestion to combine part of the
narration with the walk to shorten the total time required.
The Board discussed the historical driving tour. There were suggestions
to fill the entire driving time with narration and to limit the length to one
hour to maintain attention. The Heritage Preservation Board will provide the
tapes, brochures and tape players to the Edina Community Library and the
library has agreed to lend the material to the public. The City would not be
connected with the tour unless someone wanted to purchase the tape.
Mr. Dunwiddie explained that they would attempt to polish the tours, record
them and make them available for Edina Expo '83.
III. EDINA EXPO '83
Mr. Dunwiddie said that the program will run Saturday and Sunday,
April 16 and 17. The Heritage Preservation Board will combine effort with the
Edina Historical Society in a room across from the City display. The exhibit
will require attendants to explain the various programs and to sell articles
such as the History and Architecture of Edina. No further action taken.
IV. NEXT MEETING DATE: March 22, 1983 at 8:00 P.M.
V. ADJOURNMENT
Mr. Martinson moved to adjourn. Mrs. Wilder seconded the motion.
All voted aye.
Respectfully submitted,
Harold Sand
