Next Meeting Date: December 27, 1983, at 8:00 p.M. V • Adjournment EDINA HERITAGE PRESERVATION BOARD MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING HELD TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 1983 AT 8:00 P.M. EDINA CITY HALL MANAGER'S CONFERENCE ROOM MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Foster Dunwiddie, Gordon Stuart, Lois Wilder, Tom Martinson, John Childs and Mary Nelson STAFF PRESENT: Harold Sand 1. Approval of the Minutes: Tom Martinson moved approval of the October 25, 1983 minutes. Lois Wilder seconded. All voted aye; motion carried. II. Introduction of New Member Mrs. Mary Nelson, 4701 Townes Rd. was introduced as replacement for Frank Thorpe. Wooddale School Foster Dunwiddie reported that the rezoning of the school was not considered at the November 2, 1983, Planning Commission meeting because the timing was bad with the School Use Committee and because the Commission was busy considering the preliminary draft of the revised Zoning Ordinance, The HPD zoning is scheduled for a hearing with the Planning Commission on November 30, 1983, at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Dunwiddie will attend this meeting to make a presentation and answer any questions. The City Council meeting will probably be scheduled December 19, 1983, Mr Dunwiddie reviewed the memo to the Wooddale School Study Committee from Gordon Hughes, City Planner, concerning the City's need and potential use of the property. The Committe consists of Council members Fred Richards, Leslie Turner, School Board members Bob Christianson and Peggy Kelly; Donna Skagerberg and Foster Dunwiddie. The report addesses the five questions posed by the City Council at the October 17, 1983 meeting: 1. Does the Park Board forsee a need for the Wooddale School property. 2. Does the City Staff foresee a need for the property in addition to that cited by the Park Board, 3. What alternatives are available to the Edina Historical Society if it were asked to relocate, 4. What costs would the City incur if it were to accept the property? 5. How does the conveyance of the property to the City fit into the Comprehensive Plan, Long Range Planning Program and Open Space Report. The Board reviewed the memo and the attached Park Board Minutes and reports from department heads. Edina Heritage Preservation Board November 22, 1983 Page two The Historical Society could move into one of several houses the City owns in City parks. The Building Department and Fire Department have reported that they do not have any outstanding deficiencies that require modification. The Planning Commission is concurrently considering a change in the City's Comprehensive Plan that changes the Cahill School designation to Quasi -Public from Public. This change permits the School District to sell the building to Marsh Everson, the present tenant at Wooddale School. No further action taken. IV. OTHER BUSINESS A. Bredesen Park - The development plans are going forward to develop the lake and nature area. B. W. 50th Street - There have been no developments from the Engineering Department. C. Carson House - There have been no further developments. V. Next Meeting Date Lois Wilder moved to cancel the December 27, 1,9831, meeting and schedule the next meeting for January 24, 1'984, at 8:00 p,m. Motion seconded by Tom Martinson..
