MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
EDINA HERITAGE PRESERVATION BOARD
TUESDAY, APRIL 24, 1984, AT 8:00 P.M.
EDINA CITY HALL RECEPTION CONFERENCE ROOM
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Foster Dunwiddie, Gordon Stuart, John Childs,
Mary Nelson, Gary Nyberg and Lois Wilder
STAFF PRESENT: Harold Sand
I. Approval of Minutes: Gary Nyberg moved for approval of the
January 24, 1984 minutes. Mary Nelson seconded. All voted aye;
the motion carried.
II. Certification of Local Governments
Foster Dunwiddie reported that the program has been delayed until
late this summer due to an inquiry from the Federal Office of
Management and Budget.
III. Wooddale School
Foster Dunwiddie said that the city and school district have not reached
an agreement on :the exchange resolution. The property use study by BRW, Inc.
has not been started at the present time.
IV. Historic Tours and Markers
The Board reviewed the sketches and the list of sites that were prepared
in connection with the Bi -Centennial Markers program.. The list of markers can
be revised to reflect the sites listed in the History and Architecture of
Edina, Minnesota. Lois Wilder will review the list of sites and return with a
recommendation. The tapes for the Historic Edina Driving tour are ready and
tape players will be purchased. Gary Nyberg will prepare a brochure to
accompany the tape. A historic marker within Southdale Shopping Center was
considered a good idea.
V. 6520 Indian Hills Road.
The City received correspondence from Pamela Donnelly, architect
in Beverly Hills, California, concerning the significance of the dwelling
at 6520 Indian Hills Road which was designed by Carl Humphrey. The
dwelling may be demolished in connection with a proposal to subdivide
the property. Foster Dunwiddie will inspect the site and significance of
the dwelling.
VI. Annual Meeting of Minnesota Heritage Preservation Commissions•
April 27 28, 1984, at the Radisson Inn, Plymouth. There will be a special
lecture on Archaeological sites. The Conference coincides with the national
conference of the Society of Architectural Historians held at the Amfac Hotel.
VII.. Preservation Week.
May 13 - 19. The Board did not plan any activies for preservation week.

VIII Bossman Residence. 4609 Moorland.
The Board of Appeals and Adjustments will consider a lot coverage variance
on May 3, 1984, for an addition to the dwelling. HPB review of the plans
is informal and not required , although the property is within the Country
Club District National Register of Historic Places District. The addition
has been carefully designed to match the materials and style of the
Mediterranean designed dwelling.

X. Adjournment. Gordon Stuart moved for adjournment at 9:05 p.m. and
Lois Wilder seconded the motion. All voted aye; the motion carried.
