COUNTRY CLUB DISTRICT INFORMATION BROCHURE: Chairman Nyberg opened the discussion of the Country Club brochure by reminding the Board that at the September meeting they had talked about creating two brochures; one for contractor/ architects, and a separate one for the Country Club residents. Upon reflection, the information proposed for two brochures would be so similar that it would be much more practical to develop one brochure meeting the needs of anyone interested in the Country Club District. Following a brief discussion, Board members agreed that a single brochure would best meet everyones needs. Discussing the content of the brochure, Marilyn Curtis pointed out the importance of explaining the significance of the National Register designation and how the district designation affects the individuals property. Chairman Nyberg agreed, but added that the text should be inviting, short and stay away from a drawn out, wordy dissertation. He' added that the Country Club driving tour could easily complement the brochure. Discussion ensued relative to the specific content of the brochure. David Gepner stated that the brochure should stress the uniqueness of the neighborhood, and hopefully develop an affinity for the homeowners. Board members agreed with Mr. Gepner after which they defined the following goals they hoped to achieve through the brochure: 1. Establish place - First planned community in Minneapolis - use 1926.map. 2. Intentions of the Developer - Relationship of Country Club to home ownership. - Close to streetcar line, but catered to the automobile. - Planning/Architectural significance. 3. Describe Historical significance - National Register designation is district wide recognizing a planned mixture of historic architectural styles. 4. Message - "Maintain the integrity of the Country Club District with compatible changes." 5. Invitation - Residents are welcome to come to Heritage Preservation Board with concerns, questions and comments. - Encourage residents to look into the history of their homes via: * Historic walking tour of the Country Club * Historic building survey * History and Architecture of Edina MN The Board then came to the conclusion that Marilyn Curtis would write the text, Lois Wilder would edit and Gary Nyberg would be responsible for -key lining. III.
