STAFF PRESENT: Joyce Repya, Associate Planner
I. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES:
Marilyn Curtis moved for approval of the minutes from the February

II. COUNTRY CLUB DISTRICT INFORMATION BROCHURE:
Ms. Repya presented the Board with a draft copy of the proposed
Country Club Brochure. The 8 1/2" X 14" tri -fold brochure consists
of six panels. The cover is a replica of the original, sales
brochure used by Thorpe Brothers in 1924.
The text of the brochure explains the history of the district as
well as it's significance on the National Register of Historic
Places.
Current photographs of several model homes are accompanied by
1920's artists renderings of the same homes exhibiting the
sensitivity previous owners have had to the architectural integrity
of the buildings.
Discussion ensued regarding the placement of text and removal of
some verbiage. Herman Ratelle then moved to approve the concept of
the brochure with the proposed corrections. Donald Wray seconded
the motion. All voted aye; the motion carried.
III. OTHER BUSINESS:
A. Baird House - 4400 West 50th Street
Front Porch
Marilyn Curtis, board member and owner of the historic Baird House
explained that the front porch of her home which was originally
constructed in 1886 has undergone several transformations over the
past 105 years and is now in need of repair.
Mrs. Curtis presented photographs of the original porch and the
1920's porch which was screened in as they extended it across the
front of the house. Since then the screening has been removed, and
original roof cresting has been removed.
Mrs. Curtis added that she and her husband would like to undertake
the porch renovation after the home receives new roof and gutter.
Ms. Repya thanked Mrs. Curtis for advising the Board of the
upcoming plans for the Baird house. She went on to explain that
without plans to review, the Board would be unable to take action.
Ms. Repya invited Mrs. Curtis to present the porch renovation plans
to the Planning Department afterwhich they will be reviewed by
staff who will write a report and recommendation to the Board. The
porch renovation would then be added as an agenda item for action.
The Board continued to discuss the history of the porch. No formal
action was taken.
