Subject: Summary of Mill Pond - Aquatic Vegetation Management Policy Review
At the March 2, 2016 City Council work session, staff presented a report and recommendation for changes
to aquatic vegetation management in Mill Pond. The report and supporting documents are available at
www.edinamn.gov/millpond.
City Council was supportive of staff recommendations to;
Increase frequency to three harvests instead of two.
Adopt proposed assessment district boundary (view the proposed map in Appendix G at
www.edinamn.gov/millpond).
o Residents will have an opportunity to testify at the assessment hearing in the fall.
Include Mill Pond in the Lake & Pond Management Policy, thereby requiring an association be
formed to remain eligible for city-coordinated aquatic vegetation management.
o The policy will be revised over the next year and will be effective (tentatively) for the 2017
open water season.
