Skating area will be seeded with rye this fall, �,Xdrk not as well progressed as at Arden. Dredging the skating rink area is the problem. So much T,,Tet weather has hindered the operation. Hopkins city manager 'indicated an interest in all of the35,000 yards at 80 per yard. V"ith the excess fill remoized this project could be completed quickly. The Prk Board advised that rather than i.xTaiting more months for an offer to sell the fill at 100 per yard., it would be better in order to finish the project, to sell the fill at.80 to Hopkins. T OR 7 � PLAU F 'STFMET SCHOOL SITE Although there have been several joint School Board -Park Board meet- ings, and more meetings of the respective planners Administrative personnel of the two groups, there remains the formal action of the Park Board and Council on the final site plan for the Cornelia School - Park site. Mr. Jacus Moved that the Park Board recorriend to the Council that -the revised Cornelia Parte-School plan dated 8/22/59 be accepted subject to similar approval of the School Board. 11r. lewis seconded the motion, Motion carmeds A-59- NA14E CCIWLICT B1,25IM-14 CORNELIA SCHOOL. - CORNELIA PATIK A discussion of the name conflict between Cornelia Park where the seri ng pool iso, and Cornelia School-Fark was resolved by the Board as of no consequence. The School -Park site should be referred to as Cornelia School and the pool park can be known as Take Cornelia Parke A-59� EIM CLUB-LEMUFST Mr, French reported for the Edina Swim Club. oa the State AAD Swim . meet as follows: Income from the meet ----------- Expenses ------------------------ — --- --- _7 972-09 Balance 2OX Expense for 8 starting blocks which were given to Village ---- — ------- -------------- n3.94 Final Balance The E I dina Swim Club would like to donate $112,32 to the Village to start an earmarked fund for pool equipment *ich will enhance the con- duct of the competitive swimming program and tc-which the Edina Scrim Club will make additional contribution as it car. Mr. Stevens moved that the Park Board recommend acceptance of the do- nation with its acconpanying stipulation providA there is no legal or council policy conflict. Mr. Cri&cley seconled the motion. The motion carried. A-59- REPORT ON NETROPOLITAN DISTFUT PHYsicanmms coNFERENOE Mr. French in g-1ving a brief report on the Metropolitan District Physical Fitness Conference Saturday Septj,19,,.-,°eviewed also the lead up events going back to President EkLsenhoutris first National Physical Fitness Council in 1955s the Governors Conference last spring., and the present, meeting. He stated that efforts are under- way to form a local physical fitness council and suggested that the Park Board be represented. No action was taken other than Chairman Hill asking that Mr. French continue -'Jo serves at least for the time being, as the Boards representative in this worth- while endeavor. _OLwa-rJ_- Mr. Stevens reported that he had at the request of Mayor Bredesenj was presented and received a certificate of honorable mention a- warded by the Minnesota Society of the American Institute of Archi- tects to Sidffletj Eackstroms Hutchison PA Dickey*' Ins.,, and the Village of Edina for the bathhouse, at the 16zicipal Pool- - mr. Stevens proposed the Award given by the '%annGs0t& Society of the American Institute of Arehitects to Shifflet, Backstron)., Hutch-ison & Dickeys lnc.9 be given to Mr. Arthur Dickey and have a repro- duction displayed at the pool.
