the Advisory Edina Park Board
Committee
The regular meeting of the Advisory Edina Park Board Cor.%nittee and the Edina Park
Board was held in the Edina village Hall on November 8, 1954 at 7:30 P.M.
Those present were:
Mr. Hermann Strachauer Mrs. C.H. Patterson
Mr. W. Claude Stevensen, Jrn Mr. Austin D. Norton
Mr, Howard Merriman Mrs, Alan Charbonneau
Mr. Harold Utley Mrs. George M. Posselt
Mr. Bower Hawthorne Mr. S. S. Thorpe, Jr.
Mr. Strachauer and Mr. Stevenson reported on their meeting with the Edina Village
Council on Thursday, November 4th® The Park Board presented to the Village Council
at this time suggested standards for the position of -a superintendent or director of
recreation and parks for the Village of Edina®
This outline included a detailed description of the duties and qualifications such
a person should nave® Mr. Hawthorne read the full report to the committee,
MrI Strachauer said the Village Council accepted the proposal and also urged the Park
Board to take the necessary steps for the acquisition of land. The recreational
director will probably be hired around the first of April.
Mr. Merriman has agreed to stay on till another man is hired,. In the event he would
not be able to carry on the duties of park director there is someone else who would
be willing to help out on a part time basis until April.
It was agreed by the Council and the Park Board that the salary for the recreational
director would be paid from the operating fumd of the two mill park tax levy and that
capital expenditures would be paid out of the general fvmd.
Mr. Norton felt that if school facilities were used for this recreational program
the Village of Morningside should also be included.
Mr. Furber made the motion that the Morningside Park Board be asked to the next meet—
ing of this committee on January 2.0, 1955, The motion.was carred
