Lewis moved that Bob Reid be hired at $25.00 per week for the baseball program. Seconded by Strachauer, It was suggested that the Edina Mites march in the parade in uniform, with Lion Club members carrying the banner. Mr. Lewis reported that Mr. Merriman had accepted the position as head Park Board coach for the summer of 1949 for the sum of $300,00 for the season. Mr. Merriman is authorized to buy all necessary supplies and to contract for and pay the necessary fees for umpires' within limits imposed by Mr. Lewis. Mr6 Lewis moved that Howard Merriman be granted leave for the week of July 3rd to attend the National Athletic Convention in Boston as a delegate from suburban Hennepin County. Mr. Lewis reported that repeated efforts to push the War Memorial Committee had apparently met with no success. The Park Board goes on record as favoring that the southwest dorner of 50th & Wooddale be used for park purposes only. While the Park Board has no immediate plans for the develop- ment of this property, dub to its limited revenue, it is hoping that same other way may be found to beautify this property. The secretary was asked to check with Gretchen concerning the $2500 additional revenue for the Park Board in addition to the 1949 two mill levy. Respectfully submitted, Secretary.
