AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF EDINA City Of Edina
TO ENTER INTO A PUBLIC HEALTH PREPAREDNESS
AND CITIES READINESS INITIATIVE GRANT AGREEMENT
WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
WHEREAS, the STATE, pursuant to Minnesota Statute 144.0742 is empowered to enter into a
contractual agreement for provision of statutorily prescribed public health services;
WHEREAS, the STATE and the City of Edina have entered into master grant contract number
12-700-00078 effective January 1,2004;
WHEREAS, the STATE has received funds from the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention(CDC) to assess and enhance the capacity of the state, tribal and local public health
departments to respond to bioterrorism, infectious diseases, and other threats to public health in
accordance with the National Incident Management System, National Response Framework, National
Preparedness Goal and or any successor plan.
WHEREAS,the Master Grant Contract is being amended to increase the total amount of grant
funds awarded to the City of Edina for the period of 10 August 2008 thru 9 August 2009, to establish
• the grant duties attached to these funds and provide grant reporting deadlines.
WHEREAS, the City of Edina represents that it is duly qualified and willing to perform the
services set forth in the agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Edina City Council that the Mayor and the
City Manager enter into an Agreement with Minnesota Department of Health to accept funding for
Public Health Preparedness and Cities Readiness Initiative.
