�y° APPROVAL OF LANDSCAPE REMEDIATION PLAN FOR
•<,..�,,o�PtE>• CALVIN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
1. Background: On August 7, 2007, the Edina City Council grated CalvinCIty Of Edina
Christian School a Variance and Conditional Use Permit for additions and renovations to two
school buildings located at 4015 Inglewood Avenue. The conditional use permit was conditioned
on, among other things: "Review and approval of the landscape plan by the City Forester," and
"The addition will be built according to final plans and with materials as presented at the August
7, 2007, City Council meeting. The landscape plan approved on August 7, 2007 designated 12
trees as "existing trees to be relocated" and designated no trees as "existing trees to be
removed."
2. Findings:
A. On October 18 and 19, 2007, without application to the City for
amendment of its landscape plan or conditional use permit, Calvin Christian School removed all
12 of the trees "to be relocated,"two trees designated on the landscape plan as "existing trees to
remain," and five small trees appearing on the site survey but not on the landscape plan. Two
large trees designated "existing trees to remain," on the south side of the west building, were
removed prior to October.
B. After City staff informed Calvin Christian School that it had violated its
conditional use permit, the school submitted a revised landscape plan for approval by the City
Council.
C. On November 20, 2007, the City Council directed Calvin Christian School
to hold a meeting with its neighbors to discuss the landscape plan revisions.
• D. Calvin Christian School held a meeting at Edina City Hall on November
27, 2007. Approximately 35 people attended the meeting, including City Planner Cary Teague
and Council member Joni Bennett.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edina,
Minnesota:
The amended landscape plan dated November 28, 2007 prepared by Kodet Architectural Group,
on file with the City Clerk, is hereby approved and tliplementation of the plan shall be
deemed to satisfy the requirement of the conditional uPassed andqdopted by the ity Council on Dece r
