RESOLUTION NO. 2017-1 10
AUTHORIZE APPLYING FOR
LOCAL ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM BOND FUNDS FOR
INSTALLATION OF A SIGNAL SYSTEM AT THE INTERSECTION OF
WOODDALE AVENUE AND VALLEY VIEW ROAD
WHEREAS, the City of Edina is a State Aid City in the state of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature appropriated bond funds to the Local Roads Improvement Program
established in Minnesota Statute 174.52 and those funds are available for a statewide solicitation to fund roadway
improvement projects; and
WHEREAS, both Wooddale Avenue and Valley View Road are municipal state aid streets within the City of
Edina; and
WHEREAS, the intersection of Wooddale Avenue and Valley View Road operates poorly with the current
system, which is a four way stop condition; and
WHEREAS, a traffic signal system would improve the operation of the intersection as well as enhance safety
conditions of pedestrians and bicyclists along these busy streets without any right of way acquisition; and
WHEREAS, the Local Roads Improvement Program funds will be used to supplement the City of Edina's Tax
Increment Fund, Pedestrian & Cyclist Safety Fund as well as its municipal state aid fund for this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edina, Minnesota that the City
authorizes applying for funding for installation of a traffic signal system at the intersecti n of Wooddale Avenue and Valley
View Road.
