RESOLUTION NO. 2017-112
SUPPORTING HENNEPIN COUNTY'S EFFORTS
SEEKING LOCAL ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FUNDING
FOR IMPROVEMENTS AT COUNTY ROAD 17 AND TRUNK HIGHWAY 62
WHEREAS, MnDOT is performing maintenance on the existing County Road 17 Bridge over Trunk Highway
62 that is anticipated to begin in 2019; and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County has identified a safety need at the ramps based on the lack of adequate vehicle
storage, and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County has worked with MnDOT to expand the project scope of their bridge
maintenance project to include safety improvements that include, but are not limited to, additional turn lanes, additional
storage for vehicles, and replacement and upgrading of the traffic signal systems; and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County was successful in securing Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funds in
2015 to provide federal funding for a portion of the project scope increase; and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County is pursuing Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) funds in 2017 to further
reduce the financial impact to County State Aid Funding within its Capital Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County will continue working directly with City of Edina staff during the design process
to ensure that local needs are met.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edina, Minnesota that the City
supports Hennepin County's efforts in seeking Local Road Improvement Program funds for safety improvements at
County Road 17 and Trunk Highway 62 to supplement the bridge improvements �anned for 2019.
