Many of the works will be for sale. The MAA is considered the original art organization in Minnesota. On April 14, 1937, a group of dedicated artists pooled their resources, time and energy, and collaborated artistically. They formed the Minnesota Artists’ Association with a mission to educate, encourage, and inspire visual artists in all mediums and skills, offer fellowship and a supportive environment for creativity, and be a vital presence in the community through programs and exhibitions. Annually, the MAA sponsors two juried shows and holds monthly meetings where artists can socialize, observe demos and occasionally draw from live models. In the summertime, they offer an outdoor plein-air schedule. All events are publicized in a monthly newsletter. Several participants are long-time members of the Edina Art Center: watercolor artist and long-time teacher Marian Alstad; pastel artist, caricature artist and former teacher Judy Lieber; students Chi Chi Miller and Jack O’ Leary; and painting and drawing instructor Jake Posey. Current MAA members will exhibit their work in the Edina Art Center’s Margaret Foss Gallery April 7-April 27. An opening reception will be held 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 7. Visitors are welcome. The exhibit and opening reception is free and open to the public. The Edina Art Center is located at 4701 W. 64th St. Edina, MN. For more information, call 952-903-5780 or visit EdinaArtCenter.com.
