HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016 Annual Edina Community Aviation Impact Forum Contact: Jennifer Bennerotte, Communications & Technology Services Director Phone 952-833-9520 Fax 952-826-0389 Web EdinaMN.gov FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE City to host Annual Edina Community Aviation Impact Forum Edina, Minn., May 4, 2016 – Furthering its commitment to finding solutions for aviation noise, the City will host the annual Edina Community Aviation Impact Forum 7 p.m. Monday, May 23 at Edina City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St. All residents are invited to attend. The forum will feature attorney Peter Kirsch of Kaplan Kirsch Rockwell. For more than 25 years, Peter has been involved in the development of most of the new commercial airports in the United States as well as dozens of airport expansions, redevelopment projects and development of airport collateral lands. Kirsch’s practice emphasizes land use and environmental law with a focus on transportation infrastructure and other public-sector projects. He represents clients ranging from municipalities and local governments such as the City of Edina to corporations and public interest groups in negotiations and litigation over land use entitlements, the environmental impacts of infrastructure projects, and compliance with federal transportation law and regulations. Steve Kittleson, co-founder of the MSP FairSkies Coalition; Loren Olson, City of Minneapolis Government Relations Representative; and Ann Swenson, Edina City Council Member, will also speak at the forum. All the speakers will provide updates on current aviation impacts, including noise, emissions, plans for airport expansion and what’s next with RNVAV. In addition, they will suggest ways residents can take action to improve their quality of life. The forum will be videotaped and will later be broadcast on Edina TV.
